DANCE STYLES

At JP Dance we offer many styles of dance for all age groups! All the styles are listed below.

BALLET

Ballet is the back bone of all styles of dance and is an excellent introduction to dance. Ballet provides strength, posture and discipline to dancers of all ages.

At JP Dance we concentrate on modern ballet and choreograph to modern music dancers can relate to.

Pointe is offered to dancers who have reached the appropriate age and level required.

JAZZ

Jazz is a fun, upbeat class using strong, quick moves often involving kicks, turns and leaps.

it is a popular style of dance at our studio and encourages co-ordination and endurance.

TAP

Tap dance involves dancing in tap shoes to create a “tapping” sound in time with music.

JP Dance follows the Glenn Wood syllabus and choreograph fun, energetic routines to modern music.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop at JP Dance is an energetic, up beat class using the latest music and moves of today.

We encourage lots of attitude and personality during a class of popping, locking and hip hop tricks!

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance is an extension of Ballet and Jazz. We use movement, music and emotion to tell a story through dance.

Contemporary class encourages strength, body awareness and personal growth.

Contemporary is only offered to dancers who attend Ballet and Jazz class.

AMERICAN CHEERLEADING

Our cheerleading classes are exciting and energetic. During Cheer class you will learn basic gymnastics, tricks and excellent technique for strength and flexibility.

Routines will involve the use of pom poms and team interaction.

Cheer class is a team sport and can involve lifting and holding other dancers.

Minis

Our tiniest of dancers enjoy a fun filled class of dancing with music they enjoy and can relate to. At JP Dance we don’t use games, gimmicks or toys to engage your child’s interest.

We teach them dance from day one and they love it!

Our most experienced teachers take the minis classes. Our little dancers not only learn to dance, they learn how to listen and take instructions and build self-confidence.

PERFORMANCE GROUPS

Performance class is for dancers selected to take part in a smaller group to work on extra, and usually more difficult, routines.

Dancers are picked based on their ability to learn and remember choreography quickly. We also look for personalities that will shine on stage.

This class requires discipline and dedication and is an extension of Jazz class.

SOLOS & Duos

At JP Dance, solos and duos are typically given to dancers who we see talent and personal interests in.

A teacher will often notice a dancer during class they would like to work and create something special with.
